Jesus' advocation of caring for people didn't have anything to do with a central authority. If anything he wanted us to freely give of our own resources, free of coercion. I've found nowhere in the Bible where he even suggests that there should be a government-ran social system. So what sort of socio-economic system is it, then, when people give of their own free will? It's not communism, socialism, or fascism; all of which are coercive to one degree or another. So what's left? Could it be capitalism?

I think what's needed here is an understanding of how a regenerate person should function in a capitalist system. Such a person should go about life in his own self-interest but not pursuing selfish-interest. I know I'm walking a fine line here, so let me try it in other words. Get, in order to give, and then get more, so you can give more. I think that works nicely. Plus, think how much good you can personally do when you have the resources to do it.

One last thought: Generosity with your own money is charity. Generosity with someone else's money is tyranny.
